Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Governor of Gombe State, has heralded the launch of the Gombe-Biu Road Reconstruction Project as a pivotal moment that promises to accelerate economic growth, enhance regional integration, and improve infrastructure development for both Gombe State and the wider North East region of Nigeria.
The governor made this announcement during a visit from the Minister of Works, David Umahi, along with members of the Senate and House of Representatives works committees, who were in Gombe to officially inaugurate the superhighway project.
Governor Yahaya emphasized the significance of the project, stating that its benefits extend beyond Gombe State to encompass the entire Northeast, Nigeria, and even neighboring countries in West and Central Africa that depend on this vital trade route.
“This project is crucial for the people of Gombe State, serving as a bridge to other regions in the Northeast and beyond,” he noted, highlighting the broad implications for both local and regional economies.
Reflecting on his administration’s progress over the past seven years, the governor attributed their developmental successes to strategic partnerships, visionary leadership, and judicious resource management. He expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘New Hope’ agenda will further transform the region through pivotal infrastructure and economic development initiatives.
Yahaya reiterated that Gombe remains a peaceful and welcoming environment for investment and development and assured full security support to the contractors involved in the road project. He emphasized that his administration’s priorities resonate with President Tinubu’s agenda, particularly in the realms of infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock development.
The governor praised President Tinubu for his unwavering support for Gombe State, particularly in promoting initiatives that aim to unlock the economic potential of the livestock sector. The proposed facility will include a modern slaughterhouse, an international livestock market, a tannery, and additional infrastructure, all designed to enhance the state’s livestock economy. Governor Yahaya indicated that the Gombe-Biu road project is strategically aligned with the Agricultural and Livestock Development Zone initiative, together they are expected to foster economic activity, improve transportation, and attract investment.
In his closing remarks, the governor described the launch of the road project as a divine answer to the people’s aspirations, reinforcing the belief that it is realized in perfect timing and execution.
