Idoma Talent Hunt Launched to Inspire Future Generations
In celebration of the Idoma Centenary Plus, which commemorates over a century since the establishment of the Idoma sector, organizers have introduced the Idoma Talent Hunt (ITH). This flagship youth empowerment initiative is focused on discovering, nurturing, and showcasing exceptional talents from both Idoma land and its diaspora.
Celebrating Culture and Progress
Themed “From Idoma District to Benue South Senate Zone: Celebrating our century, building our future,” this centenary event aims to honor the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Idoma people. It seeks to motivate new generations toward excellence, fostering a sense of pride and community engagement.
A Commitment to Future Generations
This initiative is part of a legacy program designed to not only recognize past achievements but to also signify the ongoing commitment of future generations to creativity, innovation, and economic investment. It reflects a strategic move to empower young creators and stimulate growth within the creative economy.
Strategic Investment in Talent Development
In a joint statement by Mr. Arc. Ene Ijegwa Adaji, Executive Secretary of Idoma Centenary Plus Celebrations, and Dr. Eng. Organizer Emmanuel Adakor Otene, Chairman of the Youth Innovation Committee, the ITH is portrayed as a vital investment in the Idoma nation’s future. It aims to discover, develop, and showcase exceptional young talent, providing unique opportunities to transform lives.
Audition Schedule and Opportunities
The national audition tour kicks off in Abuja on July 10-11, 2026, at Merritt House, 22 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama. Following Abuja, auditions will take place in Lagos on August 8-9 and culminate with final auditions in Otukpo on August 21-22. Details regarding audition venues for Lagos and Otukpo will be released at a later date.
Exciting Prizes Await Successful Participants
Participants successful in securing a spot at the three audition centers will advance to the grand finale set for December 26, 2026. Contestants will compete for an impressive prize package, including a brand-new car, a professional management contract, and substantial cash prizes—£2.5 million for the winner and £1.5 million for the runner-up. This makes the ITH one of the most rewarding platforms for aspiring creators from Idoma.
Opportunities for Exposure and Mentorship
The talent hunt targets young individuals skilled in various artistic disciplines such as music, dance, drama, comedy, spoken word, and instrumental performance. Beyond competing for awards, participants will perform in front of industry professionals, producers, talent scouts, and investors. This exposure is expected to pave the way for mentorship and strategic networking, helping to transform budding talent into successful careers.
A Call to Action for Community Support
The organizers emphasize that the Idoma Talent Hunt extends beyond mere competition; it represents a purposeful investment in the future of the Idoma nation. They urge talented individuals to seize this opportunity by participating in auditions, and also encourage parents, educational institutions, and community leaders to support and promote young talent. With this initiative, the aim is to cultivate a new generation of ambassadors who will bring honor to Idoma and contribute to its enduring legacy.
Leadership Behind the Centenary Celebration
The Idoma Centenary Plus is being promoted under the leadership of Professor Yakubu Ochefu, the Board Chairman, with Dr. Paul Ede acting as the Executive Secretary, providing strategic oversight for the historic celebration. This initiative is a testament to the vision of a brighter future built on a proud past, aimed at inspiring the Idoma community and beyond.
