Community Investment Surpasses N1.3 Billion in Ile-Oluji Kingdom

This remarkable achievement highlights the commitment and collective effort of the local populace in enhancing their environment.
Prime Minister Fagbamiye Highlights Community-Funded Projects
At a press conference held on Tuesday to mark the 10th coronation anniversary of the Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Oba Olufaderin Oluwole Adetihin, Saudi Risa (Prime Minister) Johnson Fagbamiye emphasized that all major initiatives in the region have been financed entirely by the community. “These projects are fully funded and implemented by the people of this community, with no government intervention,” Fagbamiye stated. “The total investment amounts to roughly N1.3 billion.”
Landmark Electricity Project Enhances Infrastructure
Among the key projects is the installation of a 10MVA transformer designed to improve electricity supply throughout Ile-Oluji. Fagbamiye reported that the transformer, valued at approximately N200 million, was donated by a community member. However, the total expenses for its installation skyrocketed to N750 million, underscoring the community’s financial commitment.
Community Involvement in Project Supervision
Fagbamiye elaborated on the teamwork involved in the installation, noting that community members actively supervised the process. Additionally, the land for the transformer was generously donated by the Roman Catholic Church through the Catholic Diocese of Ondo. “As a result, the new transformer is poised to facilitate increased power supply for homes and businesses, including salons and welding workshops, thereby boosting local economic activity,” he said.
Sustainable Development Initiatives Underway
The Prime Minister also mentioned ongoing road development projects within and beyond the Kingdom, backed by a partnership with the Ondo State Government and the World Bank. “Construction is already in progress,” Fagbamiye noted. “Although progress has slowed, the project remains active and essential sections are being managed by various contractors.”
Upcoming Announcements and Anniversary Celebrations
As part of the jubilee events, the Kingdom plans to unveil numerous regionally funded projects, including two blocks of a two-storey student hostel with 40 self-catering rooms for the Federal Polytechnic University in Il Orji, as well as modern agricultural and livestock market stalls. These initiatives are emblematic of the community’s commitment to self-reliance and sustainable development.
Educational Initiatives and Community Recognition
Underlining his dedication to educational empowerment, Fagbamiye revealed that Oba Olufaderin regularly grants scholarships to deserving yet underprivileged students within the Kingdom. “Each year, around five students from each of the 14 public schools receive at least N50,000,” he disclosed. This initiative not only recognizes academic excellence but also supports those in need.
Festivities Feature Cultural and Economic Enrichment
The celebrations for the 10th coronation anniversary will include vibrant carnival processions, youth empowerment programs, and cultural exhibitions, as well as sports activities and community auctions. Additionally, farmers will receive cocoa seedlings aimed at promoting agricultural productivity and economic growth within the region. These activities reaffirm a strong community spirit and a shared vision for a prosperous future.
