Rumors surrounding Mac Allister moving to Real Madrid emerged shortly after Argentina’s defeat to Spain in the World Cup final. Currently in Chicago for Liverpool’s U.S. pre-season tour, Iraola acknowledged that Mac Allister may not be fully fit for the Premier League opener against Newcastle due to a post-World Cup break. However, he emphasized the midfielder’s importance to Liverpool’s future, as Mac Allister is contracted with the club until 2028.
Citing Player Value in the Market
Iraola recognized Mac Allister as one of the club’s standout performers in recent years, noting his impressive World Cup performance. “It’s usual for top clubs to target our best players, and while that can be concerning, my aim is to retain our key talents,” he stated. The head coach expressed eagerness to add new players rather than lose existing assets.
