Katsina State Hosts Workshop on AI and Social Media for Media Professionals
The Katsina State Government recently held a one-day workshop designed for Media Assistants and Communications Officers. The event aimed to enhance their skills in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for effective social media management and strategic communication.
Organized by the Directorate of Media and Communication at the Government House in Katsina, the workshop emphasized the need to elevate the professionalism of media personnel and to provide them with contemporary communication skills that align with global digital trends.
During the opening ceremony on Saturday, Media Director-General Maiwada Dhammaram highlighted that the initiative was a response to the increasing role of digital communications and AI in information dissemination. He underscored the imperative for media personnel to stay updated in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Consultancy firm Optimal Image Media Limited was involved in conducting the training, which was themed “Leveraging Social Media and AI for Effective Policy Implementation and Strategic Communication.” Dhammaram noted that social media platforms offer quicker and more effective avenues for public engagement compared to traditional media channels.
He remarked on the transformative nature of AI in modern communication: “We live in a world driven by communication, and artificial intelligence has become an essential global tool in strategic communication.” He urged participants to focus on the workshop content to enhance their professional capabilities.
This initiative reflects the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who is committed to adopting modern communication strategies. Dhammaram pointed out that the growing significance of social media and the global shift towards AI-driven communication prompted this initiative under Radda’s visionary leadership.
Shuaib Mungadi, Chairman of Optimal Image Media Limited, reinforced the notion that social media and AI are indispensable for modern governance and effective communication. He noted that the workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to manage social media platforms and AI tools for effective communication of government policies and initiatives. Mungadi expressed confidence that attendees would leave the workshop with enhanced capabilities to communicate government objectives more effectively.
Mungadi emphasized the collective responsibility of media aides and social media influencers to foster better public communication by mastering contemporary communication tools. He concluded by stressing the importance of skills, equity, and responsibility as core themes in enhancing the public image of the government.
