Bashir Bolarinwa Announces Bid for Kwara State Governorship
Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, a former member of the House of Representatives Information and Communications Committee, has officially declared his candidacy for the governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State. He aims to build upon the advancements made by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to further enhance the state’s socio-economic development.
During his declaration in Ilorin, Bolarinwa highlighted his commitment to advancing the legacy of the incumbent governor. He expressed, “This is a sincere call to strengthen the influential efforts and consolidate the achievements of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has served the people commendably.” He emphasized the importance of collaborative governance by stating that while no single individual can address every issue, collective effort can yield greater outcomes.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s current state, Bolarinwa focused on the path forward, emphasizing the urgent work that lies ahead for the people of Kwara. He articulated his vision for the future, expressing a desire to harness the true potential of the state’s residents to improve their living standards.
Standing before his supporters, Bolarinwa described himself not only as a politician but as a fellow citizen who deeply understands the community’s struggles and aspirations. With gratitude, he stated, “I hereby formally declare my intention to stand for the Kwara State governorship election.” His motivation, he added, stems from a conviction to serve in a more impactful capacity rather than mere personal ambition.
Bolarinwa’s political journey has encompassed various roles, from local government chairman to a representative in Parliament and national party chairman. “Each step has prepared me for this moment,” he asserted, highlighting his experience in building organizational strength and shaping political strategies that instilled hope within the state.
However, he believes the focus must extend beyond politics to the future of Kwara State. The aspirant pointed out that Kwara is at a pivotal stage where it must prioritize development, expand opportunities, and foster governance that embodies equity and inclusiveness. He envisions a state where every district thrives, access to quality education is universal, and economic opportunities are abundant for all.
Bolarinwa’s vision includes addressing insecurity comprehensively, ensuring safety for both lives and property, and nurturing an environment of unity and equity across communities. He advocates for a people-centered governance model founded on transparency and accountability, alongside initiatives to strengthen the economy through innovation and investment in essential sectors like education and healthcare.
He called upon party leaders, stakeholders, and the citizens of Kwara to unite in this collective mission for a better state. Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, the Chairman of the Central Planning Commission, endorsed Bolarinwa’s candidacy, stating that he embodies the qualities necessary for the leadership that Kwara needs at this critical time. Dr. Afolabi urged APC members to rally behind Bolarinwa for the sake of progressive governance.
