Tinubu Aims for 70% Support in 2027 Election
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has emphasized that no other leader supports northern Nigeria as much as President Bola Tinubu. He highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure development, which has been overlooked for years and is now revitalizing northern states that have suffered from insecurity, poverty, and natural disasters.
Addressing Insecurity Through Development
Governor Sani noted that Tinubu has made significant strides in combating insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria, by driving infrastructure initiatives. He urged citizens to remain vigilant against manipulative politicians seeking to exploit insecurity to undermine democracy.
Investment in Key Infrastructure
Key infrastructural projects include extensive road networks, railways linking remote agricultural areas, medical facilities, and the provision of essential agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and tractors. The Abuja-Kaduna road is slated for a December opening, alongside ongoing work on the Kaduna-Kano and Sokoto-Badagry expressways, as well as the Kaduna-Kaduna-Maradi railway project intended to connect multiple states and regions.
Combating Poverty Through Agriculture
The administration’s multi-pronged approach to alleviating poverty in the North prioritizes agricultural development. Prior to Tinubu’s administration, 12 local governments in the agriculturally prosperous southern Kaduna were left without infrastructure, resulting in an estimated annual loss of around N3.5 trillion post-harvest.
Boosting Local Economies
Abdullahi Ahmed, Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Authority, commended the president for enhancing the state’s revenue collection through local governments, which has facilitated extensive infrastructure projects. Over the past three years, approximately 1,450 kilometers of rural roads have been constructed.
Solidifying Political Support Ahead of 2027
Governor Sani expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure at least 70% of Kaduna’s votes in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. He remarked that while social media may not reflect this support, the actual voting will showcase a different reality. Sani insisted that there is little serious opposition to Tinubu or the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
Catalyzing Economic Growth
Sani reiterated that the ongoing federal government initiatives and developmental projects would bolster Tinubu’s chances of victory. “President Tinubu has done more for the North than any previous government,” he asserted, pointing to the recent approval of substantial rail and road projects in Kaduna State, which are expected to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth. He also highlighted improved financial allocations to local governments, allowing for greater local development and governance.
Defending Democracy Against Opposition
Reflecting on Tinubu’s political journey, Governor Sani described him as a committed democrat and long-time advocate for civil rights. He criticized opposing parties, which he accused of attempting to destabilize Nigeria’s democratic system. He argued that many have lost their lives and freedoms in the fight for democracy, making it vital to protect and uphold it. “This isn’t about social media; it’s about working on the ground for the public good,” he said.
