Nigeria Urges Immediate De-escalation in Houthi-Saudi Tensions

The Nigerian federal government has urgently called for de-escalation between Yemen’s Houthi movement and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amid rising tensions and recent attacks. Officials warn that continued hostilities could exacerbate an already precarious security landscape in the Middle East and jeopardize civilian lives.
Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria expressed serious concern over the situation, urging all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid retaliation, and engage in dialogue to resolve their differences amicably.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to the principles of peaceful conflict resolution, international law, and the objectives outlined in the United Nations Charter. The government specifically addressed the ongoing tensions, highlighting attacks conducted by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia.
Nigeria’s call for restraint emphasizes the immediate need to de-escalate the situation and prevent further actions that could provoke hostilities or endanger civilian welfare and regional stability.
