Congratulatory Message from Ifako-Ijaiye Assembly Member Following Party Primaries
Hon. Emmanuel Olotu, the representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Second Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has expressed sincere gratitude to the All Progressives Congress (APC) members, party workers, and Ojokoro residents for their remarkable support and strong turnout during the recent party primaries.
Collective Victory for the APC Family
Olotu described his nomination as the APC candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye as a collective triumph for the community, highlighting the unity, resilience, and democratic spirit within the APC. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the collective effort of constituents and demonstrates their commitment to democratic processes.
Commitment to Quality Representation
In his address, Olotu thanked party members for placing their trust in his leadership. He reiterated his dedication to providing exceptional representation, fostering grassroots development, and advancing constituency interests.
Praise for President Tinubu’s Visionary Leadership
Olotu also lauded the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s President and the National Leader of the APC. He endorsed Tinubu’s “New Hope Agenda,” asserting that it significantly enhances democratic governance while steering the nation toward sustainable growth and development.
Appreciation for Commitment to Democratic Values
Expressing gratitude toward President Tinubu, Olotu acknowledged the President’s insistence on counting all valid votes and upholding the wishes of party members throughout the primary process. He reiterated that the President’s commitment to impartiality, transparency, and internal democracy bolstered the credibility of the election and reinforced party members’ trust in APC leadership.
Call to Action for Party Members
Olotu urged all APC members, delegates, and supporters to actively participate in the upcoming presidential primaries on Saturday. He emphasized that continuous support for President Tinubu is essential to fortifying the gains of the “New Hope” agenda and advancing the nation’s development.
Primary Election Highlights and Challenges
Addressing concerns surrounding the primary election, Olotu noted that while the process took place across five districts, it was deemed inconclusive in two areas due to avoidable disruptions. The election in Ward G was canceled due to discrepancies between the number of votes cast and eligible voters. Similarly, Ward H experienced a suspension of the process due to potential political interference, despite the presence of election officials. Consequently, voting outcomes in those wards were annulled, and campaigning was suspended in the impacted polling stations.
Voting Outcomes and Future Commitment
Despite these challenges, the election proceeded successfully in the remaining wards. In Ward I(E), Olotu received 513 votes, while Hon. Makinde garnered 303 votes. In Ward J(F), Olotu secured 241 votes against Makinde’s 333, and in Ward K, Olotu achieved 685 votes compared to 650 for Makinde. Ultimately, Hon. Emmanuel Olotu accumulated a total of 1,440 votes, surpassing Makinde’s 1,286 votes, thus affirming his position as the APC flag bearer for the Ifako-Ijaiye 2nd Constituency in the upcoming Lagos State Assembly elections.
Olotu concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the APC’s core values under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, emphasizing that the party remains dedicated to justice, equity, and internal democracy.
