Oyeyemi’s death was confirmed on Tuesday through an Instagram post by the Bowen College Alumni Association. While the cause of death was not disclosed, the association remembered him as a cherished alumnus and theater minister whose impact resonated deeply within the community.
Call for Support and Remembrance
In their statement, the association expressed their sorrow, saying, “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing and burial of one of our esteemed alumni, Mr. Gomobuzuzu, Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi.” They called upon alumni to keep his family in their thoughts, praying for their strength and comfort during this challenging period.

A burial poster shared with the announcement indicated that a singing service is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, in Ibadan, with the burial set for Friday, July 3, at Saints Garden Cemetery. Mourners are encouraged to wear white to honor the occasion.
A Legacy in Christian Cinema
Beyond his notable performance in The Slaughterhouse, Oyeyemi made significant contributions to numerous productions by Mount Zion Faith Ministries, including Fiwajomi, Seifunmi, Olukoya, and Finding Grace. Over the years, he garnered recognition among Christian film enthusiasts for portraying faith-based characters and leveraging drama as a means of evangelism.
Recent Losses in the Slaughterhouse Family
The news of Oyeyemi’s death has reignited discussions surrounding the series of tragedies that the Slaughterhouse family has experienced in recent years. Notably, actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe—who played Oyeyemi’s on-screen wife, Flora—passed away in February 2025 as a result of injuries from a traffic accident in December 2024. Tragically, one of her twin daughters also lost her life in the incident.
A Tragic Pattern of Grief
Following Adegboyega-Alagbe’s death, the Christian film industry, including notable figures like Mount Zion founder Mike Bamiloye and filmmaker Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, expressed their condolences, highlighting the profound loss to both the ministry and the broader evangelical film landscape. Oyeyemi’s passing comes on the heels of another loss, that of fellow Slaughterhouse actor Moses Korede Ale, known as Baba Gbenro, who died in 2024.
This latest development marks a sorrowful period for the beloved gospel series, as three actors associated with The Slaughterhouse have passed away within two years, leaving their colleagues, fans, and the Christian film community to mourn yet another significant loss.
