Ogun State Police Uncover Gruesome Murder of Former TV Employee and Bodyguard
The Ogun State Police Command recently announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder of Olakitan Oyesiku, a former employee of Ogun State Television (OGTV), and her bodyguard, Perumu Adetayo. Both victims lost their lives on June 20 at Oyesiku’s residence in Agodo Town, located within the Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area.
Key Suspects Identified
During a press briefing at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Ereweran, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni revealed that the suspects, identified as Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22; security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayola, 27; and bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho, 36, were apprehended following an intensive investigation. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in Oyesiku’s Lexus RX330, which was later recovered by police.
Forensic Evidence Leads to Arrests
Ojajuni highlighted the significant role forensic analysis played in cracking the case. Evidence collected from the crime scene, including a handwritten note believed to have been left by the perpetrator, provided vital leads that assisted detectives in identifying and capturing the suspects.
Motives of the Perpetrators
According to Ojajuni, the main suspect confessed to orchestrating the murder due to grievances over his financial compensation, claiming he wanted to “teach her a lesson.” The interactions between the main suspect and the deceased were scrutinized, prompting further investigation that ultimately led to the arrests.
Sequence of Events on the Day of the Crime
On the afternoon of June 20, the perpetrators reportedly overpowered bodyguard Perumu Adetayo, using him to gain entry into Oyesiku’s home. Once inside, they assaulted Oyesiku and subsequently killed Adetayo, demonstrating a calculated and brutal approach to the crime.
Continued Investigative Efforts
Following the main suspect’s arrest on June 24, police efforts intensified, resulting in the capture of Ayola and Obafunsho. All three individuals are now in custody as authorities continue to unravel the full extent of this criminal conspiracy.
Justice Sought for the Victims
Commissioner Ojajuni assured the public that the police are dedicated to ensuring justice is served. The suspects are set to be charged in court, as officials commit to holding all parties accountable for this violent act. The Ogun State Police Command remain resolute in their mission to bring those involved in this heinous crime to justice.
