Ripon Prepares for Silver Trophy Day with Seven Exciting Races
Ripon Racecourse is set to host an exhilarating day of racing, featuring seven races on Silver Trophy Day, with live coverage commencing at 4:10 PM on Sky Sports Racing.
Dunissos Leads Competitive Field in Silver Sprint Trophy
Owners Fitri and Jim Hay are poised for a strong showing as their horses, Seven Questions and Dionysus, highlight a competitive lineup in the Ripon Silver Sprint Trophy Handicap. Robert Cowell’s Seven Questions delivered an impressive performance with a third-place finish at Pontefract, and with a pound reduction in weight, he could be in a strong position for a victory.
Ian Williams’ Dionysus finished as the runner-up during his season debut at Newmarket and will be looking to improve under jockey Luke Morris, who is dressed in colors similar to those of Market Force. Meanwhile, Vince Lamour, under the guidance of up-and-coming 3lb claimer Amy Waugh, aims to capitalize on his runner-up effort at Musselburgh last time out.
Among other contenders, Kastan recently triumphed at Southwell and benefits from a significant weight drop. Additionally, Tiba, a proven winner at this course and distance, cannot be overlooked.
Stress Free and Prydwen Highlight MCH Hutchinson Memorial Trophy
The MCH Hutchinson Memorial Trophy Handicap will see a notable clash between Stress Free and Prydwen in a tightly contested field. George Scott trains Prydwen, a veteran performer who has secured ten victories, and he recently placed well behind Berkshire Shadow in the all-weather Easter Plate Marathon, showcasing his enduring competitiveness despite a two-pound weight increase.
Stress Free, after finishing a commendable fifth in the November handicap at Doncaster, is now just four pounds heavier than when he last won at Haydock in May. Additionally, Dancing with Myself, though hampered in his Musselburgh return, managed to secure second place and will be seeking improvement over a shorter 12-furlong distance.
David O’Meara’s Prince of the Seas, previously trained by Ralph Beckett, aims to rebound from a disappointing eighth-place finish at Newcastle last September. If revitalized in his new setting, he could return to form as a class 2 handicap contender.
Naga and Golden Muse Lead Doncaster’s Premier Mares Handicap
At Doncaster, the British Stallion Stud EBF Premier Mares Handicap features a strong seven-horse field led by progressive horses Naga and Golden Muse. John and Sadie Gosden’s Naga has captured attention after a successful outing at Chelmsford, followed by a solid performance at Newmarket, improving her handicap record to three wins and four losses.
Golden Muse, in pursuit of a hat-trick following victories at Wolverhampton and Southwell, will transition to grass under jockey PJ McDonald. Her easy win in her last outing suggests that her initial rating of 80 may be undervalued.
Also in the mix is Amora Queen, ridden by Charlie Johnston, who has won her first two starts before facing tougher opposition in the Group 1 Fillies Mile; this event should present a more favorable challenge for her. Rockin’ the Boat, meanwhile, has shown promise, finishing a close second in his last appearance.
Noteworthy Entries at Doncaster and Southwell
In addition to the main events, Doncaster will host an intriguing Maiden Fillies Stakes at 5:10 PM, featuring the impressive Dream Vega, sister to G1 winner Dream Roper. Another notable entry includes Kenneth, who is related to celebrated racehorses Gregory, Lionel, Duncan, and Samuel. Kenneth will represent the Gosden team in the Sherwood Restaurant Book the Bistro Novice Stakes at 6:30 PM at Southwell, where he will face competitors Fancy Chasing Time and Burgum Dove.
