Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector Shines at Offshore Technology Conference 2026
Nigeria’s oil and gas industry garnered significant global attention at the recently concluded Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2026. Solewant Group showcased cutting-edge technology to energy experts, government officials, and researchers from more than 100 countries during a four-day event characterized by technology exchanges, executive discussions, and strategic deal signings.

Themed ‘Taking Offshore Energy Innovation into the Future’, OTC 2026 took place from May 4-7 and explored the evolving landscape of the global energy sector amid increasing demand, accelerating digitalization, and intricate geopolitical dynamics.
Impressive Attendance and Diverse Programming
This year’s conference attracted over 25,000 participants, featuring nine executive conversations, 18 keynote speeches, 48 technical sessions, and a variety of presentations covering the entirety of the offshore industry.
Company Participation and Global Collaboration
Nearly 1,000 companies were present on the exhibition floor, ranging from major service providers to emerging firms specializing in digital technology, robotics, and energy transition solutions. Solewant Group operated one of the largest private exhibition booths in the Nigeria Pavilion, drawing attention to its innovations and contributions.
Showcasing Innovations and Regional Expertise
A delegation from Solewant Group, led by Isa Momodu, Executive Director of Solewant Specialty Protective Coatings and Paints Limited (SSPC), was joined by representatives from Brazil, Canada, Guyana, Argentina, and Indonesia. The team explored regional regulatory frameworks, project pipelines, and opportunities for cross-border partnerships, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in the sector. Momodu also serves as the Group Head of Solewant Group, USA.
Technological Advancements in Pipeline Solutions
During the conference, marketing and sales director Dr. Felix Onyera presented Solewant Group’s commitment to innovation. Notably, the Solewant Industrial Park is evolving into a fully integrated energy infrastructure hub in Alode/Onne, Rivers State. Onyera highlighted solutions that address longstanding challenges in protecting pipeline assets, including the provision of premium coatings for various fittings, which have historically been prone to defects and corrosion.
Building a Sustainable Future for Africa’s Energy Landscape
Solewant Group’s strategic initiatives, which encompass steel pipe manufacturing, advanced coating solutions, and training services for the energy sector, are designed to promote industrial independence across Africa. Through ongoing development at its facilities, including the SSPC Automated Specialty Coatings and Paints Manufacturing Plant slated for completion in July 2026, the company is positioning itself to play a pivotal role in shaping the continent’s energy future.
Insight into Nigeria’s Investment Climate
The conference also featured vital discussions surrounding Nigeria’s emerging investment climate, as unveiled by Ms. Oritsumeiwa Isan, Chief Commissioning Officer of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). With approximately 300 applicants competing for 50 oil blocks in the current licensing round, Isan emphasized the importance of regulatory reforms that have ushered in renewed investor confidence in the upstream sector. The ongoing shifts in Nigeria’s regulatory landscape are pivotal for attracting domestic and international investments.
Future Directions and Conferences Ahead
As the OTC concluded, Mr. Onyela and his fellow representatives extended invitations to international experts for the upcoming 10th Africa Energy Summit, set to take place on November 26-27, 2026. Solewant Group aims to actively shape discussions on Africa’s energy future, highlighting the need for cross-border cooperation and sustainable industrial innovation.
