Political Advocacy Groups Endorse Dr. Bala Maijama-Ountee for APC Gubernatorial Primaries in Bauchi State
As the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries kick off in Bauchi State, a coalition of political advocacy organizations has publicly endorsed Dr. Bala Maijama-Ountee. They are urging party members to support him, describing him as a “tested leader with capacity, compassion, and grassroots support.”
This endorsement was announced during a joint press conference held in Bauchi, where the coalition presented Dr. Maijama-Ountee as the ideal candidate to unify the party and offer the purposeful leadership that the nation requires.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Mukhtar Ahmad Jarmajo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bara Umti Support Organisation, emphasized that the APC primaries represent a crucial moment for the future of Bauchi State. He highlighted that Dr. Umti stands out in a political landscape often rife with “empty promises and political sensationalism,” showcasing humility, authenticity, and a proven commitment to public service.
Jarmajo noted that Dr. Umti has significantly impacted people’s lives, investing in his community and supporting residents throughout the years, despite not holding elected office. This track record reinforces his candidacy’s appeal, particularly in a time when genuine leadership is highly sought after.
The coalition emphasized education as one of the cornerstones of Dr. Umti’s humanitarian efforts, recalling his personal experiences with the free education policy initiated by former Governor Abubakar Tatari Ali during the Second Republic, which fueled his passion for supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The group explained that APC aspirants, including Dr. Umti, have been instrumental in sponsoring students in tertiary institutions, awarding scholarships, and providing school fees to struggling families while also distributing learning materials and bolstering educational initiatives throughout Bauchi State.
In terms of youth empowerment, the coalition noted that Dr. Umti has rekindled hope among many young people through various initiatives, including entrepreneurship support, vocational training, business grants, mentorship programs, and efforts to promote employment. These contributions have transformed the lives of young individuals who were previously faced with unemployment and uncertainty.
Additionally, the coalition commended Dr. Umti for his extensive humanitarian work in healthcare and social welfare, pointing out his support for vulnerable patients, community health programs, and relief efforts for widows, orphans, and the underprivileged.
Call for Unity and Peaceful Conduct in the Primaries
The organization further praised Dr. Umti’s loyalty to the APC, particularly noting his donation of 24 air-conditioned buses intended to enhance mobilization efforts and support party activities across the state. Such actions reflect a strong commitment to the party’s progress.
Jarmajo remarked that Dr. Maijama-Ountee embodies competency, humility, compassion, and responsible leadership. Consequently, the coalition is calling on APC members across all 20 local governments in the state to come out in large numbers to support him in the upcoming primary elections.
The coalition stressed the importance of prioritizing competency, vision, inclusiveness, and proven service over emotional and political pressures during the voting process. They also urged party supporters to avoid violence, hate speech, and any actions that might disrupt the peace and unity of the APC.
Furthermore, the coalition appealed to security forces and electoral authorities to ensure a transparent, peaceful, and fair election campaign. They believe that Dr. Umti possesses the requisite experience, character, and leadership qualities to propel Bauchi State forward.
