A local resident named Iorulmun spoke exclusively with Business Day, asserting that the attack in the Mbazir parliamentary district was unprovoked. According to him, the assailants launched their attack early Wednesday morning, firing indiscriminately at community members. The violence resulted in the deaths of ten farmers, with many more still unaccounted for and several sustaining varying degrees of injury.
Rescue Efforts Underway as Locals Search for Loved Ones
Iorulmun reported that local residents managed to recover ten bodies while many others continued to search nearby bush areas for their missing relatives. The chaos left in the wake of the attack has instilled a deep sense of fear among community members.

This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another violent incident wherein unknown attackers killed Mr. Ardo Risu Muhamed, the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, along with another individual, Yakubu Isah, from Otukpo. This earlier act of violence has further exacerbated tensions across several communities, notably in the Benue South Senatorial District.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Arya has condemned the violence, labeling it a heinous act against innocent farmers and calling for immediate security interventions.
