VivaJets Calls for Action to Enhance Africa’s Economic Connectivity
VivaJets, the business aviation arm of Falcon Aerospace Group, has urged African leaders to transition from policy declarations to actionable initiatives that will enhance economic connectivity across the continent. This appeal came during the recent Africa CEO Forum 2026, held in Kigali, Rwanda, where the company emphasized that Africa’s economic growth hinges on the seamless movement of people, businesses, and investments.
The statement, released by VivaJets to The PUNCH on Tuesday, highlights the critical link between mobility and economic development. The Africa CEO Forum is recognized as one of the largest gatherings of public and private sector leaders in Africa. Established in 2012 by the Jeune Afrique Media Group, the forum convenes heads of state, investors, and business professionals to discuss investment opportunities, economic development, and public-private partnerships.
The 2026 edition of the forum, which took place from May 14 to 15, focused on the theme “The need for scale: why Africa must embrace shared ownership.” This theme underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in driving economic progress throughout the continent.
During the event, VivaJets CEO Erika Achum shared insights with the media, pointing out that while Africa possesses a vision for integration, it lacks the coordinated implementation necessary to unlock its economic potential. Her sentiments highlight the urgent need for decisive action beyond mere discussions.
Achum noted the growing energy and participation at the Africa CEO Forum, stating, “As a supporter of the Africa CEO Forum for three years, I have seen the energy, participation, and corporate goodwill grow tremendously with each edition. The commitment by leaders from both the public and private sectors is inspiring.” Nevertheless, she cautioned that it is paramount to transition from rhetoric to concrete action.
“The real question is whether these commitments are being translated into actionable measures. We need more than just treaties and declarations; harmonized regulations and cross-border policies are essential to support trade and investment and facilitate movement across the continent,” she added.
VivaJets Chief Operating Officer Tejumadeh Salami emphasized the challenges of achieving African integration without seamless movement between regions. “At VivaJets, we see ourselves as more than an aviation provider; we are facilitators of business connectivity. Private aviation can eliminate geographic barriers to commerce by offering reliable and flexible mobility for business leaders across Africa,” Salami explained.
Additionally, Kayode Adebiyi, Head of Business Transformation at VivaJets, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving business connectivity within Africa through its participation in the forum. “To foster a truly integrated Africa, the aviation industry must also evolve. This is why VivaJets is investing in expansion, innovation, and international partnerships aimed at developing more efficient aircraft to meet the evolving mobility needs of African leaders and businesses,” Adebiyi stated.
